The slogan of HAYAMI-RYU is “KEI (Respect), WA (Harmony), SEI (Pure), JAKU (Modest)”.
The founder, Sotatsu Hayami (1739-1809) was deeply engaged to study culture of the Heian period (about 800-1200), which “cha-no-yu” (before Sen No Rikyu) was brought up by Jouou Takeno, Juko Murata and Ashikaga Shogun family.
The head office is located in Kyoto, very near to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. The present successor is Sogaku Hayami (7th), and the next successor is going to be Soko Hayami (8th).
Soko goes to Tokyo to teach HAYAMI-RYU tea ceremony class for 4 days a month.
